The 7th Annual Mississippi Science Fest (MSF), presented by C Spire, is a fun event hosted by the four museums of Jackson, Mississippi's LeFleur Museum District (LMD) on September 15-17, 2023.
MSF showcases science, technology, engineering, and mathematic (STEM) industries, organizations, and innovation happening across the state. MSF aims to engage students, families, adults, and educators in a fun and interactive learning environment that promotes science education and workforce development.
The LeFleur Museum District will offer exhibitors, special events, and programs at four sites - the Mississippi Children’s Museum, MDWFP's Mississippi Museum of Natural Science, the Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Museum, and the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum on September 17.

DAY ONE:
C SPIRE C3 JR.CODING CHALLENGE
THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 15, 2022
The C Spire C3 Jr. event is an invitation only that includes elementary age students from schools and organizations across the state. These students will be challenged to use their technical abilities and critical thinking skills to navigate through obstacles. Our hope is to inspire children to pursue an academic and career path that includes information technology and computer science.
Twenty-two teams from across the state have been invited to the Mississippi Children’s Museum in Jackson and Meridian to participate in C3 Jr, a coding challenge uniquely designed for elementary age students. Teams comprised of four fourth grade students will be guided through coding challenges by a C Spire Mentor, treated to lunch compliments of C Spire, and participate in an awards ceremony at the conclusion of the challenge.

In partnership with the MS Science Fest, the LeFleur Museum District invites you to attend a special STEM-themed Field Trip Friday! On Friday, September 16, all four museums will host a day dedicated to promoting STEM subjects and increasing science literacy for our field trip guests.
On this special day, your students will be some of the select few who have the opportunity to spend their field trip time interacting with nationally renowned STEM professionals and engaging in unique, hands on activities that align and connect directly to the science and math content taught in your classroom. Students attending Field Trip Friday will have an opportunity to participate in hands-on experiments, interactive exhibits, and see classroom science lessons come to life.

Janet Marie Smith is a Major League Baseball executive, architect, and urban planner from Mississippi. Smith has built and managed renovations of several major and minor league baseball parks in the United States including Baltimore, Atlanta, Boston, and Los Angeles. Smith grew up in Jackson and graduated from Callaway High School. She has held positions of Vice President of Planning and Development for the Baltimore Orioles and Atlanta Braves and was Senior Vice President of Planning and Development for the Boston Red Sox. Smith has also worked on the conversion of the Atlanta Olympic Stadium into Turner Field and the construction of State Farm Arena (formerly Phillips Arena) in Atlanta, Pershing Square in Los Angeles and Battery Park in New York City. Her work in baseball has earned her three World Series rings, two with the Red Sox in 2004 & 2007 and one with Dodgers in 2020.
